There are many different types of plasterboard available for different applications. Stopping finishes the products ready for painting. There are different levels of finishes for different requirements.
GIB Fixing (Wall/Ceiling Areas)
GIB Fixing is when plasterboard is applied to framing and is the cladding for the interior walls or alteration. In some cases plasterboard is added to areas that must be replaced due to damage or rotting. We can supply and install plaster board (GIB) according to requirements of the project.
Level 4 Plaster Finish
Level 4 is used in normal situations where side light and critical light are not present. The use of matt and low sheen paints also are factors in choosing a level 4-6 finish. Some high quality wallpapers require levels 4-5 due to the fact that they are a very thin wallpaper.
Example showing before and after application of Level 4 plaster finish:
Level 5 Plaster Finish
Level 5 is a complete covering of all surfaces, also known as skimming, it is most commonly used for walls that have had wallpaper removed. Level 5 is excellent for renovations where a high standard of finish is required, and new plasterboard has been used so that any discrepancy between the plastered surface and the non-plastered surface cannot be distinguished. This is especially important in areas where there is high artificial lighting e.g. wall lighting and feature walls or where sunlight shines along an area on a steep degree or angle.
Level 6 Plaster Finish
Level 6 is a covering of all walls or ceiling surfaces so any discrepancy between the plastered surface and non-plastered surface cannot be distinguished. This is especially important in high artificial light areas such as wall lighting and feature walls, also where sunlight shines along an area on a steep degree or angle. Level 6 is achieved by spraying a high build plaster designed specifically for this application. Level 6 is commonly used for high-end home or commercial premises.
Cove Finish
Cove is an alternative finishing to timber scocia or square stopping and is available in 55mm, 75mm, and 90mm, projection sizes. Different sizes are used according to ceiling height and style of house. A large cove in standard height ceilings will make the ceiling feels very low.
Square Stopping Finish
Square stopping is where the junction between the wall and ceiling is plastered to create a sharp line. The best way is to use a gold line molding which has a treated steel 90 degree backing and will never crack!
Vacuum Sanding Finish
A vacuum sander is used to virtually eliminate dust created when sanding, however, to complete this we provide further detailing by hand sanding the joints to eliminate further imperfections ensuring a flawless finish.
